Undergraduate Scholarships

  • Our goal  at  Alpha  Gamma  Rho  Fraternity is to reward members for excellent academic achievements, great campus involvement, and outstanding leadership. Scholarships are available to reward members for these various achievements. Below is a list of scholarship opportunities available to the men of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity-Theta Chapter. 

     

    Payne-Longwell Scholarship Program

    Eligibility: All undergraduates, excluding exiting seniors in their final semester

    Criteria: Semester GPA of 3.5 or greater

    Award: $100 per recipient

     

    Cale Boedeker Unsung Hero Award

    Eligibility: Undergraduates (living in-house)

    Criteria: Often times, brothers doing exceptional things in the house, community and university go unrecognized for their contributions.  This award is dedicated to giving a scholarship to a brother that promotes these promise and values of the fraternity. Nominations will be accepted from any brother, advisor or house director, which must include the name of the nominee, a short description of why the nominee deserves to be recognized and the nominator’s contact information. Nominations must be sent to josh.m.terhune@gmail.com prior to Feb. 1 and will be evaluated by an alumni review committee.  Awarded at Founders' Day.   

    Award: $1,000 per recipient

     

    Oscar A. Thorne Financial Leadership Award

    Eligibility: Current VNR-Finance executive officer (living in-house)

    Criteria: Awarded at Founders' Day to recognize outstanding leadership in financial management.  

    Award: $500

     

    Max Glover Recruitment Leadership Award

    Eligibility: Current VNR-Recruitment executive officer (living in-house)

    Criteria: Awarded at Founders' Day to recognize outstanding leadership in recruitment.

    Award: $500

     

    Zane Akins Noble Ruler Leadership Award

    Eligibility: Current Noble Ruler (living in-house)

    Criteria: Awarded at Founders' Day to recognize outstanding leadership to the whole chapter and executive officer team.

    Award: $500

     

    Newsom/Frazier Leadership Award

    Eligibility: All undergraduates (living in-house)

    Criteria: Awarded at Founders' Day to recognize outstanding leadership at the house and on campus based on highest points with preference to a senior.  Cannot get another award that is not grade related in conjunction with this award.   

    Award: $500

     

    Cecil Keasler Memorial Awards

    Eligibility: Sophomore and junior undergraduates (living in-house)

    Criteria: Awards are given to the eligible sophomore and junior who earned the highest house points within their respective classes in the fall. Awarded at Founders' Day.

    Award: $250 per recipient

     

    Jerry Litton Outstanding New Member Award

    Eligibility: New member undergraduates (living in-house)

    Criteria: Award is granted to the most outstanding new member of the fall semester class, which is voted on by the undergraduate chapter. Awarded at Founders' Day.

    Award: $500

     

    Jeff Zimmerschied Most Athletic Member Award

    Eligibility: Undergraduates (living in-house)

    Criteria: Awarded to the most athletic member of the chapter, based on a vote by the undergraduate chapter.  Awarded at Founders' Day.

    Award: $250

      

    Best Big Brother/Little Brother Grades

    Eligibility: Big brother/little brother undergraduate pairings

    Criteria: Award is granted to the big brother/little brother pair achieving the highest GPA. Each new member is paired with an upperclassman that serves as their big brother. Awarded at Founders' Day.

    Award: $250 each

     

    Highest Fall Semester Grades Award

    Eligibility: All undergraduates (living in-house)

    Criteria: Award is granted to the member with the highest fall semester grades. Tiebreaker goes to the highest number of credit hours. Awarded at Founders' Day.

    Award: $250

     

    Most Improved Grades Award

    Eligibility: All undergraduates (living in-house)

    Criteria: Award is granted to the member with the most improved grades. Awarded at Founders' Day.

    Award: $250
